Pooja Devendran, MPH
Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Pooja Devendran is the Founder of Novolux. She has a passion for integrating science, technology, and management and she has decades of experience in disrupting healthcare delivery through innovation.

Pooja is a hospital executive with 19 years of experience in healthcare management. She has managed over $150M of capital renovations and improvements, approximately $450M in revenue, and over 150 employees in her career to date. She has extensive strategy and hospital operations experience, most recently at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, and formerly at NYU Langone Medical Center/NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, Boston Medical Center, and the Massachusetts General Hospital.

As a management consultant, Pooja worked with government leaders in 23 different states. Pooja holds a Masters in Public Health and Healthcare Management from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Kedar Gupta, PhD
Chairman of the Board

Dr. Kedar Gupta is an innovator, entrepreneur, and business leader who brings nearly two decades of technology industry experience to Novolux. As CEO of ARC Energy, Kedar helped develop and successfully install clean energy products for millions of customers around the world.

Prior to ARC Energy, Kedar co-founded and subsequently served as chief executive officer for GT Solar, a global clean technology business with more than 600 employees and revenues exceeding $800 million. Before co-founding GT Solar, Dr. Gupta served as vice president and general manager of the Systems Equipment Division of Ferrofluidics Corporation, where he grew the business from less than a five percent market share to more than a 60 percent market share in a five-year period.

He received the New Hampshire High Tech Council Entrepreneur of the Year award and has been a New England finalist for the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. He earned his master’s and doctorate degrees from the State University of New York, Stony Brook, MBA from Lindenwood College, and a bachelor’s degree in technology from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Mark Pettus, MD
Chief of Clinical Innovation

Dr. Mark Pettus is a triple board-certified internist, nephrologist, and Integrative Medicine physician who has been in practice for over 25 years. He holds an A.B. from Boston University and an M.D. from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He completed his postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School with a renal fellowship at The Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. 

Dr. Pettus currently serves as the Director of Medical Education, Wellness and Population Health at Berkshire Health Systems in western Massachusetts. In addition, he serves as The Associate Dean of Medical Education at The University of Massachusetts Medical School. He formerly served as the Medical Director of the Kripalu Institute for Integrated Healing. 

He is the author of two books: The Savvy Patient: The Ultimate Advocate For Quality Health Care and It’s All in Your Head: Change Your Mind, Change Your Health. He’s also appeared on numerous TV and Radio venues nationally including the 700 Club, Good Morning America, NPR and PBS.

Partha Dutta, PhD,
Chief of Technical Innovation

Dr. Partha S. Dutta is a professor in the Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York. He served as the Deputy Director of NSF funded Smart Lighting Engineering Research Center from 2010 to 2015. His research interests are in the areas of semiconductor, optoelectronics, nanotechnology and crystal growth. He has co-authored over 140 research papers and 4 book chapters, inventor of 16 issued US Patents and the author of two forthcoming textbooks (“Optoelectronics and Photonics Engineering” and “Applied Solid State Physics”) to be published by Springer. Dr. Dutta received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics from Bombay University and Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India.

Dr. Dutta is also a technologist and entrepreneur with vast experience in laboratory-to-market ventures. With a focus on accelerated commercialization of new technologies, Dr. Dutta has been engaged in a wide gamut of TRL-1 through TRL-9 research activities encompassing fundamental research in materials and devices, as well as advanced systems design and engineering. These efforts have found applications in the energy, chemical, lighting, display, healthcare and defense industries. He is the co-founders of Auterra Inc. and Lunas Power Inc. He is a senior member of IEEE. Key recognitions include: Rensselaer School of Engineering Research Excellence Award (2005); 40 under forty Entrepreneurship Award (2004); Rensselaer Trustees Awards for Faculty Achievement (2016, 2015, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2001); National Science Foundation Early Faculty CAREER grant award (2001); Young Scientist Award (1995); MRS Graduate Student Award Finalist (1995); Martin Foster Award for Best Ph.D. thesis of the year (1996).
